The PWC Care Kit is designed to help you keep your personal watercraft (PWC) in top condition. Follow these detailed instructions to clean, protect, and maintain your PWC for peak performance and longevity.
1. Initial Cleaning: Exterior Wash
What You’ll Need:
- Captain's Musket Foam & Flush Gun
- Salt Wash Detergent
- Water source
Steps:
Preparation:
- Ensure your PWC is on a trailer or lift and in a shaded area, avoiding direct sunlight.
- Connect the Captain's Musket Foam & Flush Gun to a garden hose.
Mixing the Solution:
- Fill the Captain's Musket reservoir with Salt Wash Detergent according to the dilution instructions on the bottle.
Application:
- Turn on the water supply.
- Apply the foam generously over the entire surface of your PWC using the Captain's Musket. The thick foam will help lift dirt, salt, and grime.
- Allow the foam to sit for 3-5 minutes to penetrate and loosen debris.
Rinse:
- Rinse the entire PWC thoroughly with fresh water using the Musket's water-only setting to remove all foam and debris.
- Make sure all detergent residue is washed away.
2. How to Flush a Personal Watercraft (PWC)
Preparation:
- Ensure your PWC is on a trailer or lift, with the engine turned off.
- Connect the garden hose to the Captain’s Musket Foam & Flush Gun.
Adding the Engine Flush Solution:
- Fill the foam gun’s reservoir with the Outboard & PWC Engine Flush Solution according to the recommended dilution ratio.
Attaching the Flush Kit:
- Locate the flush port on your PWC (usually found at the rear or on the side of the craft).
- Attach the garden hose securely to the flush port.
Flushing the Engine:
- Turn on the PWC engine before turning on the water source the. Medium water pressure is sufficient.
- Make your way straight to the Captain’s Musket at the flush port and shift the crank handle all the way forward to the soap mix setting. Allow the flush solution circulates through the cooling system for 2-3 minutes. Do not exceed this time as PWC engines should not run for extended periods without being in the water. (Check your manufacturers recommended flush times)
- Shutting Down:
Shift the crank handle of the Captain’s Musket to off first before turning off the PWC engine.
Detach the hose and flush kit, making sure to drain any excess water from the cooling system.
3. Protection:
What You’ll Need:
- Final Touch Ceramic Detail Spray
- Captain Seal Anti Rust & Corrosion Spray
- Microfiber cloths (not included in the kit)
Steps:
- Final Touch Ceramic Detail:
- Ensure the PWC is completely dry before applying the Final Touch Ceramic Detail Spray.
- Spray the product evenly across the clean, dry surfaces of your PWC.
- Use a microfiber cloth to buff the surface in circular motions until the PWC has a high-gloss finish.
- Captain Seal Anti Rust & Corrosion Spray:
- Apply the Anti Rust & Corrosion Spray to all metal surfaces, paying extra attention to areas prone to moisture and salt exposure (e.g., engine parts, metal fixtures).
- Wipe off any excess spray with a microfiber cloth to ensure even coverage.
4. Drying:
What You’ll Need:
- XL Chamois Towel
Steps:
- Final Rinse:
- If necessary, give your PWC a final rinse with fresh water to remove any residual product.
- Use the XL Chamois Towel to dry the PWC thoroughly, starting from the top and working your way down.
- Spot Drying:
- Pay attention to crevices and hidden areas where water might collect.
- Use the Chamois Towel to ensure no water spots or streaks are left behind.
Important Tips:
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Always work in a shaded area and ensure the surface is cool before applying any cleaning or protection products. This prevents streaking and ensures the products work effectively.
- Regular Maintenance: Use this kit regularly, especially after exposure to saltwater, to keep your PWC in peak condition and extend its lifespan.
